FLOORWALKER

Yesterday was my first AM duty as a primary nurse after being a superuser for almost 3 weeks but it does'nt mean that my extra responsibility is over. I am still a superuser until the end of this month and it gets even difficult because of the different schedule of superusers. It started last May 16. There's one superuser per shift per floor. So, starting tonight I will be the floorwalker for third floor everytime I am on duty. And tonight is my first duty as a third floor floorwalker. I'll be covering 2 units. I am happy that everybody is getting comfortable with the electronic documentation, very soon they will get used to it...INSHALLAH.

SUPERUSER / SUPERPORTER

Sorry for the lack of post. Blame my mood and my laziness.

This time I want to share with you my recent extra responsibility as a Floorwalker/Superuser of this much awaited Go Live of the new electronic medical documentation.

I never had a formal training as a superuser but I had a formal training as end user. Due to unpredicted circumstances, I volunteered myself to be a superuser. I thought it will be an easy task. My goodness! I never dream of being a porter. Why Am I saying this? During the implementation of Carenet Nursing live E-MAR ( Electronic Medication Administration Record) we, the superusers became porters. We have to deliver and send the hard copies of medication prescription to the pharmacy because the doctors are not yet allowed to enter their order thru the Power Order. I am very thankful that last Thursday, everybody is LIVE, which means everybody can access the HIS/CERNER.

First day was totally a mess. Some of the doctors were still thinking and acting that the nurses are their handmaiden. Some of them were still asking for the print out of lab results and radiology results. I always end up telling them " I will help you to acess the HIS and log in with your username and password and please use your mouse not your mouth." To my dismay, some does'nt even know how to double click and right click. I tried to rationalized their actions. It is a known fact that some does'nt really like electronic gadgets which includes the computer and in every change, there are resistance to change. I tried my best to keep cool but I always ended up frustrated. The most terrible instance was some doctors were still writing on the paper and does'nt care at all. Enough for the doctors.

Nursing staff has different views regarding the CARENET NURSING APPLICATION. For those techy ( loves high tech gadgets) , I had no problem but for those old and not so old staff, they always complain and they think that I can resolve even the technical and application problem. They get frustrated if the superusers cannot solve the technical and application problem. We, the superusers, will always tell them that" let me take a screenshot of that technical or application problem and I will report it to the HELP DESK." Everyday, I have to remind myself that they will get used to it and once they are comfortable with it, they will love it and for sure they will thank the CERNER.
